In this article we are going to try to add a little dimension to the proverbial question of science and spirit…”is ESP real, or simply a figment of many BAD imaginations?” My read on this is fairly simple…and somewhat at odds with what many others on here are preaching. Let’s take another look at applying some intellectual muscle to an exciting question of potential, and possibility! Read on..:-)
Science at a Crossroads
ESP and the variety of similar anomalous experiences are decidedly INTERIOR phenomena and simply cannot be measured appropriately in a lab. If you feel that someone is staring at you, for example…and feel this quite decisively, and turn around and see that indeed, stranger’s eyes are BURNING into your back, how do you quantify this? You can’t. No lab is going to replicate this finding with any degree of credibility, it almost seems even SILLY to try, right? But yet…you felt the strength of the stare, you were compelled to turn around, and low and behold…someone was indeed intensely focused in your direction. A worthless, forgettable coincidence, JUST because it can’t be falsified scientifically? I say, absolutely not!
What the Research Says
You may not know it, but LOTS of scientists have studied the above. Lots of GOOD scientists, with impeccable credentials, who are bright beyond all measure. The above scenario, for example, was the topic of the book “The Sense of Being Stared At” by famed UK biologist Rupert Sheldrake. Much the same way that we occasionally “feel” who is calling before we answer the phone with incredible accuracy, Sheldrake found the sense of being looked at, EVEN from a distance, or from behind, is FAR more accurate and ever-present than many of us recognize.
The Power is in the Potential
Our minds are far more powerful than we recognize, with so many more layers to explore, we really have only the slender flame of a small candle to illuminate that which we already know! But isn’t that all part of the excitement, and the power, and the potential of simply being? I know what I believe? What about you?
