Belgium is well-known through out the world for Ardennes pateé, Belgian chocolate, beers, and of course waffles. French fries (Dutch: Frieten; French: Frites) are extremely popular in Belgium, and many people say the best place to have them is from the ubiquitous stalls found in most Belgian squares, known as “frituur” or “frietkot” (Dutch), or “friture” (French).
The country also has a lot more too offer too - indeed many people say that Belgian cuisine offers the quality of French cuisine but with the portion sizes that you get in German cuisine, and there is in fact a certain truth to that.

Research has shown time and time again that eating small portions of dark chocolate may provide numerous health benefits as a result of chocolate’s antioxidant properties. However, a new study, performed by a team of scientists in Scotland and Italy, suggests that eating milk chocolate or even drinking milk with your chocolate, significantly reduces those health benefits.
Chocolate derives from the seeds of the cacao tree, a small evergreen bush cultivated throughout the tropics. Cacao’s botanical name is ‘Theobromo cacao’, meaning ‘food of the gods’. Chocolate is created from cocoa, the solids of the cacao bean, and cocoa butter, the natural fat of the cocoa bean. Dark chocolate is the purest form of cocoa without any milk additives.
Specialty coffees differ from one place to another for couple of reasons, including the way in which it has been grown, the altitude, the area, the soil, and even in the way in which farmer cares for the coffee bean. Like the gourmet coffee, specialty coffees would differ from one country to another, one region to another, and year to year. Even the way the roaster treats the coffee to would have a big impact on the final taste.

So you’ve decided to host a cocktail party. Invitations–or eVites–are out but now is the time to start preparing. The idea is to provide a festive, yet pressure-free, environment for your guests. If you’re running around at the last minute, you’re guests will feel the frazzle too.
First, take a step back and think about the overall “feel” or theme of the party.
I’m amazed at how often I get e-mail from a disgruntled home cook, lamenting the fact that, once again, a dish of pasta has turned into a culinary disaster. I hear stories of overcooked, undercooked, tasteless pasta that may also be stuck together, or otherwise inedible. In fact, I recently had the experience where I was shopping with a friend and I suggested that she buy some pasta. Her response was that it was too unpredictable to cook.
First, we have to define what we mean by “best.” If that equates to the quality of food, can a food critic do that for you? Don’t we each have different likes and dislikes? Therefore, that would be problematic to seek out a website that just rates our food. Sure, it’s nice to have someone give us an opinion, but can we base our whole decision on one or two restaurant reviews? I think not.
One of my hobbies is I enjoy cooking and finding new and exciting recipes. I learned how to cook from my mother in New Orleans. She taught me to make wonderful main dishes, desserts, salads, and beverages. During the holiday season, she always had enough food to feed the neighborhood. We had a big family but she always had too much food. I am forever grateful for all I learned from her.
As we approach the holiday season, this is a favorite drink that we prepare every year for our Christmas party. This is a recipe which you want to think ahead and prepare in anticipation of your parties.
